Ideally, an engagement session will happen months before the wedding.
But sometimes, you’re stationed in Wyoming, and you both don’t have a chance to come back home until a few days before the wedding.
Still, we did the photos. We met at Williams Barn in Groton, not too far where we each live. They even got to bring their dogs for the beginning of the session.
It’s important to me that a couple knows how I work. I teach posing and interaction during a session, so knowing that before the day of the wedding is helpful. It also gives me an idea about how the couple will photograph together naturally. When I am editing, if I notice that a certain pose or shot didn’t flatter the couple, I can make a mental note. The same goes for pictures that just capture their true personality.
So, we met a days before the wedding, and it was 100% worth it.
As they were driving home, Danielle texted me and said, “We had so much fun! Tristan said that was so much fun and natural!”
Three days later, the photos were easy and fun. We didn’t have a lot of time for their portraits on their wedding day, but we got so many done, because they had already learned my posing system and I already knew how they would best photograph!
