All seniors get to show up to the session with three outfits. When you book, I give you a style guide that helps you choose what to wear. I love to see the choices that seniors make to really personalize their session. Some seniors just have a great sense of style!
You can definitely wear the clothes you love. That’s why you get to have three outfits. However, I encourage you to choose one outfit that is timeless and traditional. This doesn’t mean old or dorky. Think about pictures you have seen of your parents or grandparents. The ones that make you say, “Why would anyone wear that?” are the outfits that were very much in style at one point and now look ridiculous.
Solids are timeless. Prints are trendy and will get dated very quickly.
Many people have a navy polo, a blue button-down, an off-white sweater, a solid colored blouse, or even a blue blazer. If you don’t have these things, can you borrow them? Choose sleeves that are classic. All of these options, or similar choices, give you a look that won’t feel silly fifteen years from now.
Fashion trends keep swinging from too tight and too short to too baggy and too long. It’s totally fine to wear a flowy dress or oversized flannel for one of your outfits, but wearing something that is tailored will help you create that timeless look.
I love when you put your own spin on what you will wear, but I also want you to have some photos that will stand the test of time.
