Some of you knew right away what you were doing.

And some of you waited until the 11th hour.

Perhaps some of you are still trying to figure it out.

Each one of these options is okay. Not everyone follows the same path!

Here’s a helpful checklist for you to finish up senior year.

Check, double-check, triple-check your email

Your school is probably sending out emails every day with deadlines, reminders, and to-do lists. Make sure that both parents and students are staying on top of these tasks. You don’t want to miss anything.

Are you SURE you have your cap and gown?

Just make sure that you have submitted / paid for / taken care of this.

Having a party? Now is the time to send out your invitations.

Whether you are sending formal cards or creating an evite, if you are within a month of your party, it is time to send out the invites. Waiting until later this summer? Send out a save the date text or email to your VIPs. Part of a huge group of friends? Be sure to coordinate with the families so that there isn’t too much overlap.

Going to prom?

Be sure that you have talked to your friends about the details about taking photos, getting there, getting home, and what you are doing after. Don’t assume anything. Make sure that your parents take a few minutes to clean up so that they can get a photo with you all dressed up (this is a big deal for them, too!). And whatever you do, celebrate safely.

Planning to decorate your cap?

Start looking for ideas on Pinterest. Think about hosting a cap-decorating party with friends.

Going to college or trade school?

Again, check that email. They are sending you information and tasks constantly. Pay attention to deposits, housing requests, orientation days, move in days, tuition bills, and other important info.

Moving into a dorm?

You can chill for now on buying dorm stuff. If you see a once-in-a-lifetime deal, pick it up. But enjoy the rest of senior year before rushing into the dorm purchases.

Write Thank You notes

Have a teacher who made a difference? Know a coach who pushed you to excel? Be sure to drop a thank you note in the mail. Also remember to include anyone who wrote a recommendation for you.

Keep an eye out for an email from me

On May 15, you will receive sign-ups for your cap and gown session. This is a part of your senior experience. There will be multiple days, times, and locations available for two weeks starting June 6.
